Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
TransAide ("the App") is developed by GrammarIO ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use our macOS application.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
TransAide does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information with us or any third party. Specifically:
- We do not operate any servers that receive your data
- We do not use analytics, tracking, or telemetry services
- We do not collect usage statistics
- We do not use advertising frameworks
- We do not create user profiles or accounts on our servers
3. Data Processed Locally on Your Device
The following data is processed and stored exclusively on your device:
a) Text Content
When you use features such as grammar optimization, translation, or word lookup, the App temporarily processes the text you select. This text is sent directly from your device to the AI service provider you have configured (see Section 4).
b) API Key
Your AI service API key is stored securely in the macOS Keychain, encrypted by the operating system. We never have access to your API key.
c) Word Book & History
Saved words and optimization/translation history are stored locally using macOS UserDefaults and optionally synced via your personal iCloud account.
d) Meeting Recordings
Audio files from meeting recordings are stored locally in the App's application support directory on your device.
e) Settings & Preferences
App configuration, custom AI actions, and keyboard shortcut preferences are stored locally and optionally synced via iCloud.
4. Third-Party AI Services
TransAide uses a "Bring Your Own Key" (BYOK) model. You provide your own API key for the AI service of your choice (e.g., OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, etc.). When you use AI-powered features:
- Your selected text is sent directly from your device to the AI service provider's API endpoint
- The transmission is encrypted via HTTPS
- We are not an intermediary in this communication
- The processing of your data by the AI service provider is governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms of service

5. iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, certain data (word book, history, settings, meeting sessions) is synced across your Apple devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure. This sync is governed by Apple's privacy policy and occurs through your personal Apple ID. We have no access to your iCloud data.
6. Microphone Access
The App may request access to your device's microphone for meeting recording and speech recognition features. Microphone audio is:
- Processed locally on your device for speech recognition using Apple's Speech framework
- Optionally sent to the AI transcription service (Whisper API) you have configured, using your own API key
- Never transmitted to our servers (we do not operate any)
7. Accessibility Access
The App may request Accessibility permissions to capture selected text from other applications. This access is used solely to read the currently selected text for processing and is never logged or transmitted to us.
8. Data Retention
All data remains on your device (and your personal iCloud account, if enabled). You can delete all App data at any time by:
- Removing saved words and history within the App
- Deleting the App, which removes all local data
- Managing iCloud storage through macOS System Settings
9. Children's Privacy
TransAide is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly process data from children.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy.
